Karachi:
The Federal Research Agency (FIA) has arrested 22 people trying to cross Iran through the Arabic Sea.
According to a spokesman for the Circle composed of the FIA, GWadar, the arrests were carried out during the operations carried out in the coastal areas of Baluchistan of Jiwani and Gabd (PB-250) of Baluchistan. The suspects were intercepted while trying to leave Pakistan through unauthorized maritime routes.
Initial investigations revealed that individuals had planned to enter Iran illegally, with the ultimate goal of reaching other foreign destinations through human smuggling networks.
The arrested individuals come from various parts of Pakistan, with 13 Punjab, 7 Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and two from Sindh. “The 22 suspects have been reserved under relevant laws, and formal investigations have been initiated,” confirmed the FIA spokesman.
The agency reiterated its commitment to stop people trafficking and urged citizens not to be victims of false promises of illegal immigration agents, warning that such trips often put lives at serious risk.
Pakistan’s coastal belt, particularly in Baluchistan, has long been a key transit point used by human contraband unions, despite repeated repressions by the agencies of application of the law.
