ASI says that SHO made him ‘half cold’ to extort him

A police officer claims he was “half-fried” by a shot in the leg in a stage encounter and was framed in a case by a SHO who demanded Rs 2 million in bribe, but settled for Rs 300,000 for the intervention of a wadera. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Syed Asghar Ali Shah of Larkana Police Training College accused the Rahuki police of shooting him in the leg during a mock encounter, allegedly at the behest of an influential landlord. He appealed to the Sindh High Court chief justice and senior officials to order transparent investigations and deliver justice. Addressing a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club, Shah alleged that 20 to 25 policemen led by ASI Irfan Sapio, who was allegedly inebriated, raided his house in Tando Haider late at night without a warrant or policewomen. He alleged that the officers violated the women’s privacy, vandalized the house under the pretext of a search and subjected men, women and children to brutal violence. Shah further said that he, along with his nephews and a domestic help, was blindfolded, kidnapped and his parked vehicle was also taken away. He alleged that the police later demanded Rs 2 million for his release. When he refused, they blindfolded him, took him to an unknown location and shot him in the leg in what he described as a "medium fried" attempt.
