- ASML invests 1.3 billion euros in the French Startup Mistral AI, ensuring a 11 percent participation

ASML Holding NV has signed a strategic association with the French Startup Mistral AI, which seeks to combine its chipas experience with Mistral Artificial Intelligence models.
The measure is one of the largest collaborations between the semiconductor sector and a European AI company.
ASML, based in Veldhoven in the Netherlands, is the only world supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, critic to produce the most advanced chips. Leading semiconductor companies use their equipment to manufacture smartphone processors, data centers and AI accelerators.
€ 1.3 billion of funds
Although ASML occasionally invests in suppliers, it rarely takes direct bets in new companies.
Mistral AI, founded in 2023 and based in Paris, develops LLMS and open source AI tools. It looks like the European alternative to the dear ones of the United States.
As part of the agreement, ASML will invest 1,300 million euros ($ 1.5 billion) in the Mistral series C financing round, leading the increase and ensuring a 11 percent participation on a completely diluted basis.
The round will bring the assessment of Mistral to € 11.7 billion ($ 12.6 billion).
The Association aims to apply AI models in ASML research, development and operations.
Collaboration could improve the performance of ASML lithography systems and help chips manufacturers to bring products to the faster market.
