At least 8 dead while the bus returns near Chakwal

At least eight people died and another 18 were injured when a bus of a private company traveling from Rawalpindi to Lahore overturned near Balkasar’s exchange on the M-2 highway due to an explosion of tires.

According to the highway police, the vehicle’s front tire exploded, which makes the driver lose control. The bus overturned shortly after.

Rescue teams and highway officials arrived at the scene immediately after the incident.

The 1122 rescue confirmed that the deceased and injured were transferred to the Hospital of the District Headquarters, Chakwal.

Minor injuries were treated on the site by the highways police and emergency responders.

Among the deceased were Habiba, 35, Haider Mohsin, an unidentified one -year -old boy, Umme Habiba Mohsin, 26, Khadija Khaliq, Haram Khaliq, two -year -old, Sardar Nadeem, 45, and Mansha Begu, 38 years old.

Rescue operations were ongoing at the time of the report.
