At least 10 people lost their lives and several others were injured on Tuesday in a frontal collision between a passenger truck and a trailer on the Indo road in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Karak district (KP), according to rescue officials.
The fatal accident occurred when a passenger coach, who was traveling from Dera Ismail Khan to Peshawar, crashed with a truck near Meetha Khel.
The rescue teams, together with the local residents, quickly responded to the scene. Several passengers were trapped within the remains, requiring joint efforts to extract the injured and the deceased.
The bodies were transported to the District headquarters hospital (DHQ) in Karak, while four of the serious injured were transferred to Peshawar for advanced medical care. Two of them later died in the hospital.
According to rescue sources, all victims were residents of Miran Shah.
Police confirmed that the trailer driver, who was also injured in the incident, was arrested. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
