ATC convicts 167 in the disturbances of May 9; The main leaders of PTI imprisoned

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Faislabad sentenced on Thursday to the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) to 10 years in prison in cases related to the protests of May 9.

Opposition leader at the Omar Ayub National Assembly, opposition leader in Senate Sibli Faraz, Sartaj Gul, MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raz 77 were acquired.

Around 60 of the convicted, including Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, Sartaj Gul and Hamid Raza, were sentenced to 10 years in prison each, while other convicted were delivered in the three -year prison.

Meanwhile, PTI Fawad Chaudhry leader was acquitted along with Zain Qureshi, Khayal Kastro, Faizullah Kamoka, Rana Asad Mehmood Khan, Bilal Ashraf Basra, Haroon Rasheed, Amara Rasheed, Sahibzada Hassan Race and Kamran Warraich.

Shafiq was absent from the court during the hearing and did not appear. According to reports, it has hidden to avoid arrest.

Arrest orders issued

Today early, ATC issued arrest orders for 50 PTI leaders in relation to several cases related to the protest registered in multiple police stations in the Federal Capital before the protest of August 5 of PTI. The arrest orders were issued by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.

PTI’s secretary general, Salman Akram Raja, requested a national protest on August 5 last week, urging the public to support what described a “historical movement” for national sovereignty instead of mere political survival.

Raja condemned what he described as unconstitutional actions against PTI legislators and a broader offensive against dissent. He specifically criticized the decision of the Punjab Assembly to send references against 26 PTI members to the Pakistan Electoral Commission, calling to the measure illegally and politically motivated, and said that the members of PTI would continue to raise their voices against this step.

On Thursday, arrest orders for 41 PTI leaders were issued, while arrest orders for another nine were issued above. Arrest orders were issued in a case number recorded at the Karachi Company police station.

The prominent names between those who face the arrest include former President Arif Alvi, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed and Ahmad Niazi.

Arrest orders for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Prime Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Khan Swati, Omar Ayub and Sahibzada Hamid Raza have also been issued.

Other members of PTI appointed in the Warrants include Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar and Sher Afzal Marwat.

Faizabad protest case

In the case of Faizabad protest, which refers to the demonstrations held on the disqualification of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the court argued that the state of CM Ali Amin Gandapur as proclaimed criminal remains unchanged.

The court ordered the Islamabad police to arrest Gandapur, stating that arrest orders remain in force. The court also ordered that if there is any order from the Superior Court of Peshawar, it must be fulfilled.

PTI Faisal Javed Khan leader and others appeared before the court. At the request of the lawyers, the hearing was postponed until August 6. The case against Ali Amin Gandapur and others is registered at the Police Station of the Industrial Area.

March 18 protest

In a separate case related to the protest of PTI leaders on March 18, the ATC issued arrest orders for PTI MNA of Faisalabad, Ali Afzal Sahi. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, who also presided over this case, said that “Ali Afzal Sahi has not appeared before this court to date.” Arrest orders for other absent PTI workers were also issued.

The hearing for the case registered at the Golra Police Station was postponed until August 9.

November 26 protest

Meanwhile, in the case registered at the Police Station of the Secretariat related to the protest of November 26, the Court dismissed the bond of a defendant who repeatedly remained absent. Arrest orders were issued for those who are not present at the audience. A forensic report related to the case was presented, and the following hearing was established for August 5.

The November 26 case registered at the Kohsar Police Station also postponed until August 4. Arrest orders were issued for the accused people who did not appear.

Non -financial arrest orders have been issued for 15 PTI leaders, including Arif Alvi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Zubair Niazi and Asad Qaiser, in relation to ten cases registered in Rawalpindi related to the protest of November 26, government prosecutors said Thursday.

When heading to a press conference outside an ATC in Rawalpindi, prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah, flanked by the prosecutor of the Chaudhry Muhammad district, said that there have also been requests for bail cancellation for 68 people accused, along with separate requests against their guarantees.

Zaheer Shah said that delaying the defendant’s tactics will no longer be tolerated. In the case registered at the Sadiqabad Police Station, nine of 111 nominated people have already been convicted.

A total of 31 cases related to the protest of November 26 have registered in the Rawalpindi Division, including 20 in Atock, 10 in Rawalpindi and one in Chakwal. Thirteen accused are currently on interim bail.

According to the prosecutor, the accused appears in the Court once and presents obsolete medical reports to request the suspensions. He said that investigations have been completed in the 31 cases, and after the issuance of arrest orders not in the stock market, the defendant generally safe the protective bond of the higher courts.

The murder of the police in Taxilla

In a case that involves the murder of a police officer in Taxila, Imran and Bushra Bibi are among the defendants nominated.

ATC has issued non -financing arrest orders in the cases of Wah Cantt and Naseerabad for Arif Alvi, Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar and another 20.
