A 16 -year -old athletics athlete was killed during a championship meeting on Wednesday morning in Texas by a member of another team, authorities said.
Frisco police confirmed that the athlete student died “despite salvation measures.” The suspect, Karmelo Anthony, 17, has been accused of first degree murder.
A student of Frisco Memorial was the victim, according to local reports. The director of Frisco Memorial, Brook Fesco, wrote in an email obtained by Pak Gazette Digital that Austin Metcalf, a young man at school, had died on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 10 am at the Kuykendall Stadium in the 11-5A district championship of the Interscholasic League University. Anthony attends Frisco Centennial, approximately 7 miles away from the memorial cold.
According to the Independent School District of Frisco, the meeting was suspended shortly after the incident. The ISD added that the stadium “was immediately insured, and the students were released and sent back to their Campus of Fisd Buses with convenience.”
In his email, Fesco said the school “will recognize Austin’s death during the second period and offer support throughout the day,” adding that the directors would be available.

“As a father, his orientation and support will be important to help his son processing pain. Talking about this together, face to face, will give him the opportunity to discuss how his family understands and faces the loss. He can also discuss with his son how to be a friend of support for classmates,” Fesco wrote. “This loss could also remind your student past losses. The most important thing he can do is give his son the opportunity to be heard and express his feelings.”
“The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the family, students and the victim’s staff who experience unimaginable pain,” the department said in a statement. “The department is collaborating with the Independent School District of Frisco and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult time.”
Metcalf, who also played football at school, participated in the bullet launch events and children of children earlier in the day, with distances of 39 feet, 9¾ inches and 86 feet, 4 inches, respectively.

Anthony directed the 100 -meter race of the children in 12.38 seconds and was scheduled to compete in the length.
