Speaking of Cech, she was chosen as fans’ favorite character, Toph, in November 2024. For those not initiated, it is an extremely powerful land holder, which will accompany Aang and company in her search to stop the attempts of the Nation of Fire to become the tyrannical rulers of this world.

There have been many more cast revelations since Cech also added to the program list. Last November, it was confirmed that eight more actors appeared, including Justin Chien as King Kuei, also known as the current ruler of the kingdom of the earth, and Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, the latter is Toph’s mother.
Then, to celebrate the end of filming in season 2, Netflix presented seven other additions from the cast. The most notable name between this contingent is Dichen Lachman, whom some spectators will recognize as Gemma Scout/MS Casey of the successful Apple TV+ seriesEverance. She will play Yangchen in Avatar season 2.
For Commander Zhao (Ken Leung), he seems to find his disappearance at the end of season 1 after a battle with Zuko, who unleashes his fire powers on him. When Radiotim.com asked him about his possible return, Leung said: “In the original, we do know what happens to him: he ends in the fog of lost souls in the spiritual world. As this is a reimagination, I do not know how that part will imagine again, if it will be, so I am in the same boat like you!”
Avatar: The last speculation of the history of Airbender season 2
The main spoilers are still for Avatar: The last Airbender Season 1. Possible spoilers of season 2 also follow.
When it comes to the original Avatar: The last Airbender Series, there is certainly a story and a timeline for the adaptation of Netfli’sx to follow. However, one of the biggest problems facing the Netflix version is that the original took place in the same 12 months.
By maintaining the same cast in this remake, the season showrunner of season 1 Albert Kim had to allow the actors to grow on the screen. Since they will have aged since the first season was launched, a narrative adjustment was needed in the form of a time jump, as Kim previously confirmed in a conversation with Entertainment Weekly (EW).
How does this impact on the arrival of Sozin’s comet, also known as the heavenly object that represents the passage of time in the original program? Kim added: “We eliminate that particular watch from our program for now because we could not know exactly how many years our actors would be for later seasons.”
However, the scene of the intermediate credits of season 1 revealed that Sozin’s comet would be part of the story in the future, so it will be interesting to see how its inclusion factors in the time jump that has been introduced into Avatar: The last Airbender Season 2.
On the other hand, in a conversation with the Netflix internal website, executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani revealed a little more about what viewers can expect next time.
“We are going to challenge our characters with more complex and nuanced obstacles as they sail for a more tactile world,” the couple joked. “Just when the animated series matured and progressed, the live action will also take these characters and worlds, and grow them.”
The exploration of the most mature topics program will not be a surprise for anyone who has seen the remake and/or the original Netflix.
With regard to the first, Aang and the water beans successfully repelled the attack of the Nation of Fire against the tribe of the North Water in Agna Qel’a. Unfortunately, the Nation of Fire simultaneously attacked those by land in the city of Omashu and succeeded in defeating those who defend their tribal strength.
This establishes the plot very well for the Earth approach to season 2, which combines with the original series. More training, more use of skills and more battles for Aang and Company are certainly in the cards.
“I thought it was really intelligent for writers to end season 1 in that way, because you want to have the feeling that the universe of the program is expanding with each season,” Daniel Dae Kim told Tudum, who plays the ruthless father of Zuko and Azula, Lord Ozai, Lord Ozai. “And they really did a good job with that danger of cliff and also created a feeling of urgency and time.”
There is also the growing tension between Zuko and Azula while their complicated family dynamic continue. Azula took the city of Omashu and his Captive King Bumi, while an injured Zuko fled the battle in the north. Zuko is one of the most fascinating characters in Avatar: The last Airbender And, although fans of a long time know what awaits you in future seasons, it will not be less intriguing to see it evolve as an individual.
And what about Aang’s face to the face of the father and ruler of the aforementioned couple of the Nation of Fire, Fire Lord Ozai?
“Always leave the audience wanting more,” Lee joked. “I simply had chills when I saw Lizzy as Azula. You have King Bumi in the shackles, and it’s like, ‘Oh, there are so many cliff hangers.’ I thought, ‘Oh, I want to shoot at season 2 [and] 3 right now ‘.
Unfortunately for Kim, he hasn’t done that, with Boylan and Rassani assuming reins as co-showrunners. It will be equally interesting, then, see if Avatar: the last seasons of Airbender 2 and 3 are better (or worse) than what has come before. Speaking of the third season of the program …
Has Avatar been renewed: the last Airbender for a third season?

He has it. As mentioned above, Netflix renewed Avatar: The last Airbender For two more seasons last March. As revealed by the anterior X/Twitter publication, season 3 has also entered full production as of May 2025.
Since season 2 takes about six months to film, its sequel could take a similar amount of time. If that is the case, the main photography could wrap in the last installment of the series before the end of 2025. That could allow Netflix to launch seasons 2 and 3 very close to each other, or make sure that season 3 reaches no later than a year later Avatar Launch of the season 2. In summary: Avatar: The last Airbender could be made and dusty as an original Netflix TV at the end of 2026.
