Amazon wants you to thrive in your next office job by gaining all the relevant skills you’ll need through new training powered by AWS AI, designed specifically to improve communication and teamwork skills.
AWS promises more than 200 free AI courses on the AWS Skill Builder platform, covering everything from beginner to advanced topics, but one new hands-on learning experience stands out above all others: the meeting simulator.
This platform gives participants the opportunity to participate in AI role-playing sessions with realistic characters to practice things like explaining, overcoming objections, and improving overall communication.
AWS is training workers for future skills
Described as an “immersive learning experience,” the Meeting Simulator tool consists of AI-powered characters in an appropriate office environment.
Users can choose to speak directly to the AI people or interact via text messages, before receiving instant feedback on how well they communicated, such as what questions were asked and how they handled objections.
The launches come as new research from the World Economic Forum suggests that 40% of basic job skills could change by 2030.
Emphasizing the importance of its training opportunities, Amazon says workers with AI skills in particular could earn salaries around 47% higher.
AWS will verify workers’ skills with microcredentials, which go a step further to prove that workers can actually perform a task, not just that they understand it.
“Together, AWS certifications and microcredentials showcase your full capabilities, validating both your deep technical knowledge and practical skills,” the company added.
With so many other companies offering their own upskilling plans, Amazon’s decision to promote this with realistic hands-on experiences adds a new dimension to training that could help workers who learn by doing.
