The Backstreet Boys have been around for three decades, but a lot has changed during their time together, both in their personal and professional lives.
The band, based on AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter and Brian Littrell, are preparing to return to the stage for their residency in the Las Vegas sphere and reflected on their feelings on the matter in a new interview.
The singers, who knew each other since they were children, shared that one of the biggest changes between their past shows and now is prioritizing their health.
“I think everyone’s different. I know personally, I try to do a full, calm stretch, do a quick little meditation and I have some weights that I do a little bit of weight lifting and stretching and stuff,” McLean said. People MagazineHe added: “For a long time there, I was looking at all of us in the locker room, and maybe one of us might be stretching, but for the most part, we weren’t.”
However, now his physical warm-ups seem to be just as important as his vocal warm-ups.
Carter chimed in to add another pre-show ritual: “We pray we don’t fall, we pray we don’t break an ankle, we listen to the lyrics, we pray we don’t explode.” [an] Achilles heel.”
Despite time, some things never change and McLean noted that one of them is their circular moment together. “We’ve always had a circle, whether it’s just the five of us or us and our team, our management, our families, our close-knit team. No matter what happens, the five of us form a circle, that’s something we do unified,” he said.
The group has been together since 1993, with a two-year hiatus in between, but for the most part their passion for making music together hasn’t diminished over the years.
