Developer Battlefield Studios has announced that Battlefield 6 The first season will be expanded thanks to community feedback.
The first season will now run until the arrival of the second season, which we now know will arrive on February 17. To tide players over until the release of the next season, a new Season One Extension update has been announced for January 20.
This will include a variety of fixes and updates aimed at improving the experience of one of the best FPS games, with more details to be announced soon.
On January 27, players will be able to dive into a new Frostfire bonus track as part of the existing Season One Battle Pass with all-new premium and free rewards for those who complete the weekly challenges.
It can be finished at the same time as the season one battle pass, so you won’t have to worry about having to choose between getting this new content and clearing everything you haven’t already collected in the existing pass.
In a press release sent to TechRadar Gaming, the studio confirmed that “this revised release was implemented to allow more time to further develop and refine the second season as a result of community feedback.”
This follows a notable decline in PC player numbers since an incredibly strong launch period in October last year and the appearance of an apparent “drop” of AI for sale in the in-game store. According to data available through SteamDB, the game has lost over 30% of its player base in the last 30 days alone.
We’ll have to wait and see if a more polished second season of live service content can help turn things around.
