Later, Aranda issued a separate statement over X, saying that the Baylor community has been “devastated” by Foster’s death.

“Alex was a beloved member of our Baylor family, and we are devastated by this loss. In his time in Baylor had a lasting impact on all of us on the program. Our hearts are broken and our prayers are with his family, friends and all who loved him so deeply.”

In response to death, the mayor of Greenville, Erick D. Simmons, spoke about the recent “increase” of crimes that affect the community.
