The president of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, said Thursday that he has fought against the case of fair water distribution worldwide and urged the international community to help protect the Indo River, said Express News.
Going to a public meeting in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Friday, Bilawal said: “I have taken the battle on the distribution of water to the global stage. I told the world that we must save our Indo River.”
He added that the issue of water theft by India has been constantly raised during his term as Minister of Foreign Affairs. “India continues to steal our water, and I have assumed this international challenge,” he said.
Reflecting on the legacy of the game, Bilawal said: “We are all the bearers of the flag of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and we have met here to pay tribute.
He added that after five decades of struggle, the Popular Court has declared Bhutto innocent, and justice has prevailed.
Highlighting the achievements of the PPP during the presidency of Zardari, Bilawal said that the restoration of the 1973 Constitution through the 18th amendment restored the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. “Through this amendment, Zardari returned the rights to the provinces and honored the legacy of the Quaid-E-Awam,” he said.
He also pointed out that Bhutto received the Nishan-E-Pakistan for his implacable struggle for the rights of the working class.
Touching the need for judicial reforms, the president of the PPP said that the constitutional courts would guarantee the same representation and that the political situation in the country has reached a critical point. He reiterated that the PPP has always raised his voice against terrorism and will continue to do so.
