The president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto -zardari, inaugurated on Tuesday the new Hub channel, a project of Sindh Government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), aimed at addressing the chronic water shortage. The project will provide 100 million additional gallons per day to the metropolis.
The president of the PPP expressed a strong disgust due to the prolonged delay in the end of the K-IV Water project by the federal government. “It is unacceptable to operate with ‘Shehbaz Speed’ for LaHore and change to ‘Slow Sloe’ for Karachi,” he said.
He said that water scarcity had been a long -standing problem for Karachi and must be solved priority. Together with the construction of the new channel, the renewal of the old center channel was also underway, which would further improve the supply for the Central District, the West District and Keamari, while a PC-I had been prepared to extend the scope of the project to Lyari.
The president of PPP said that he would occupy with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the issue of the non-propensity of federal funds for Karachi development projects and urged at the early completion of the K-IV scheme. He said he had expected the prime minister to support Karachi’s development with the same urgency shown for Lahore.
Returning to India, Bilawal claimed that New Delhi was financing the Bla and Majeed brigade forbidden to shed the blood of innocent civilians. He accused India of conspiring to block Pakistan’s participation in the water suspending the Treaty of Indo’s waters in violation of international law and said that the Modi government intended to build dams and channels in the Indo River.
