Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday praised the leadership and political direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, particularly in guiding the country through a complex and uncertain regional environment amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting came a day after the prime minister publicly offered Pakistan as a venue for US-Iran peace talks, an offer that received an extraordinary boost when President Donald Trump reposted it on his Truth Social platform, a move widely seen in Islamabad as Washington’s tacit endorsement of Pakistan’s emerging role as a mediator.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office today, Prime Minister Shehbaz met Bilawal and his delegation, during which the prime minister underlined Pakistan’s active diplomatic effort for global peace.

Bilawal also expressed support for the government’s approach to addressing potential risks arising from the ongoing conflict scenario.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz briefed Bilawal on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in light of the evolving situation in the Gulf, emphasizing Islamabad’s commitment to promoting stability, dialogue and conflict resolution on the international stage.

Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan is actively engaged in addressing emerging regional challenges through a balanced strategy that integrates foreign policy, internal security preparedness and economic resilience. He stressed that safeguarding national interests while contributing to world peace remains a key priority of his government.

The two leaders also exchanged views on political developments and important national issues. The discussions included Pakistan’s internal and external security environment as well as the country’s preparedness to face potential challenges arising from escalating tensions in the Gulf region.
