LAHORE:
After spending two days in Lahore, the president of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, arrived in fine on Sunday, where he is scheduled to visit areas affected by floods.
According to the party officials, Bilawal arrived in fine in the afternoon, accompanied by the governor of Punjab, Sardar Salem Haider, and was received by the president of Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani.
On Monday (today) he will visit the city of Carpa Darma Gillani, before proceeding to Muzaffarh to continue his visits with communities affected by floods. From Muzaffarh, Bilawal is expected to travel by road to Sukkur, Sindh.
During their stay in Lahore above, the main leaders of the PPP, including the central president of Punjab and former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, the Secretary of Information Nadeem Afzal Chan and Secretary General Hasan Murtaza, raised the issue of pending approvals for the reorganization of the party.
However, according to a source, the president did not answer.
The source also affirmed that Bilawal deliberately maintained the ranges and archives of the “dysfunctional” party by retaining reorganization, sending a clear message to the leaders to “be low.”
He added that, after Bilawal’s conciliatory words for Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, the leaders of the party in Punjab were left with nothing viable in their arsenal.
However, the secretary general of PPP, Hasan Murtaza, offered a partial contradiction, maintaining that the president had only asked the leaders to wait until after the floods, since the party workers were currently participating in help activities.
“After the floods, we will call a provincial meeting of CEC and, after approval, he will forward the name to the president’s office,” he said.
