Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong made headlines at a pre-Super Bowl show in San Francisco on Friday.
The moment went viral when the 53-year-old singer spoke directly about Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
The band was performing at a party hosted by FanDuel and Spotify ahead of the big game weekend.
During the show, Armstrong told the crowd, “Quit your fucking job,” referring to the ICE agents.
The audience applauded loudly when he added that political leaders would eventually stop supporting the agency and encouraged agents to leave their jobs.
His comments, however, came as the Bay Area prepared for Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Lately, there are a lot of people who have been talking about the immigration chaos.
NFL security chief Cathy L. Lanier said there were “no planned law enforcement activities by ICE” at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, where the game will be held.
He said officials were confident in that.
Previously, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem mentioned that ICE could be on the scene after Bad Bunny was named the halftime performer.
Bad Bunny has also said he is concerned that fans of his concerts in the United States could face immigration controls.
Armstrong has often spoken about politics during his shows, as his words at the San Francisco pre-show received strong support from the crowd.
