James Cook can be present at the Buffalo Bills training camp this week, but will not go back when it comes to contractual negotiations with the franchise.

Cook, the NFL leader in TouchDowns by Last season, made clear his position after participating in the first two days of camp.

“We have conversations,” he said, through ESPN. “I mean, I deserve what I want, I need, and will eventually happen.”

The journalists continued, asking Cook if he feels sure that the invoices will meet the demands for the extension of his contract.

“I want to say, however, it happens, it will be done. Wherever it happens,” he said.

The 25 -year -old does not lack trust, and that was seen this season when he went to Instagram with a subtitle of “15 million [per] year.”

If that is the case, Cook would be tied with Baltimore Ravens veteran, Derrick Henry, for the third highest average annual value in the corridor position in the NFL.

Cook has previously published on social networks about his contract situation, and noticed on Thursday that he does not regret making public how he feels.

Bills GM Brandon Beane discussed Cook’s situation with journalists at the beginning of the training camp.

“Sometimes you can’t reach the same page, or sometimes you are trying to fit it,” Beane explained, according to ESPN. “There are times that the boys have gone here that we really wanted. We simply could not make it work. But I can tell you that I hope that we are sitting here in the training camp next year that James Cook is practicing and still represents red, white and blue.”

Cook has one more year left in his rookie agreement with the Bills, who took him in the second round of the NFL 2022 draft out of Georgia. If Cook and the Bills cannot reach an extension for the next season, he would be a free agent unless the team decides to pathe to his franchise.

Unlike other players, past and present, Cook participated in the low seasonal practices of the Bills while their contractual negotiations were ongoing.

“It’s my job,” he said about informing. “I have to participate, so I will not receive a fine and I will simply go here and I just show that I am ready to go and win what I have to go.”

Cook called the Bills a “great organization” and one for which he wants to continue playing. But he has made it clear where he is, and does not seem to be willing to leave money on the table.

To accompany his 16 touchdowns by land last season, Cook ran for 1.009, his second consecutive year broke the 1,000 -yard mark after a total of 1,122 in a 2023 campaign.

While it is clear that Cook is the main corridor of the depth table, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson spell it for snapshots and have shown skills to help Bills’s dynamic offensive to climb the field and enter the annotation zone.

Cook played only 48% of offensive snapshots in their 16 Bills games last season.
