- The founder of Twitter, Jack DORSEY, has launched Bitcat Mesh
- The Private Messaging Use Bluetooth application to send text messages
- Comes with many privacy characteristics
Tired of messages and whatsapp and ready to try something new? The new Bitchat mesh application of the Twitter founder, Jack DORSEY, has landed at the iOS Application Store, while an Android version is available in Github.
Download the application and find that it offers a novel way to contact friends and loved ones.
Dorsy announced Bitchat Mesh in early July. Unlike traditional messaging applications, Bitchat Mesh does not depend on the Internet to link users and devices. Instead, use Bluetooth to transmit messages from one person to another, so in theory it should work in places where Internet connectivity lacks, provided there are enough nearby Bluetooth devices to transmit your texts.
In addition to this unusual distinction, Bitchat Mesh emphasizes user privacy. You do not need to register your phone number or email address with the application, not even create an account to start. That allows you to maintain your private identification information without being hindered.
Bitchat’s mesh is also encrypted from extreme to extreme, which means that all its messages are still private and no one, not even the Bitchat developer, can intercept or read them. There is even a ‘panic mode’ that allows you to delete all your data by touching the application logo.
A different way of sending text messages
Bitchat Mesh is a specialized application for people who care deeply about their privacy, and their unusual nature could prevent the type of saturation of the mass market than rivals as WhatsApp have achieved. But it could still have a lot of appeal to people who need their different characteristics.
Not trusting on the Internet, for example, the application is more resistant to both network interruptions and censorship attempts than rival products. That could be useful in the nations administered by governments or oppressive locations where it is possible that it does not trust the security of more popular alternatives.
In our brief tests, Bitchat Mesh told us that there were zero other users in our neighborhood, presumably because the application has just launched. But it is likely to be a problem for many potential uses: if there is no one around them, you may have difficulty sending your messages, since the application is based on Bluetooth connections to retransmission texts.
Even so, Bitchat Mesh can be completely used for free, without payment walls, subscriptions or purchases in the application still instead, so it is possible that you want to try it to see if it adapts to your needs.
