Developer Activision has lifted the curtain on what’s coming to multiplayer in the upcoming season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 when it releases on April 2nd, and it will be packed with glorious Covert operations nostalgia.
Five multiplayer maps will be available on day one: Beacon, Abyss, Plaza, Gridlock and Mission: Trident. First up, Beacon is a new medium-sized map set in a remote snowy region, centered around a freezing Guild facility dotted with shipping containers for cover and offering a mix of indoor and outdoor environments.
Abyss is a much smaller environment that takes place entirely inside a submarine. It’s a long, rectangular map that looks a lot like the excellent Bullet map from Black ops 6 (which was set on a speeding bullet train). However, it seems much tighter than Bullet, with narrow hallways and plenty of obstacles to navigate.

Then there’s Plaza, another medium-sized map and a remaster that returns from Black ops 2. Like the original map, it is set in a nightclub at Colossus Resort from that game’s campaign, which also appears in a dilapidated state on the existing map. Black ops 7 Colossus map.
The setbacks don’t end there though, with Gridlock’s first remaster of Black ops 4 arriving the same day. This follows the aftermath of an armored truck heist gone wrong on a busy Tokyo highway, and given the importance Black ops 7 features Japan as a setting, it only makes sense to bring it.
Rounding out the initial offering is Mission: Trident, a new 20v20 map for the massive skirmish game mode that features a massive port and surrounding warehouses.
An improved arsenal
Season 3 Reloaded will add even more with the small spa-themed Onsen map and a remaster of Summit. Black ops 6The Hacienda version is also being adapted, with some small adjustments to the vineyard layout to suit Black ops 7The improved movement abilities of.
There will also be an interesting new mode, Freerun, which will have its own dedicated map called Ascent. As the name suggests, Freerun is all about parkour and doesn’t appear to feature any combat with players, instead racing to reach a set endpoint in a race.
It wouldn’t be new Obligations Season without new weapons and accessories either. Highlights of the release include the addition of the MK35 ISR assault rifle and VST SMG, with the Strider 300 sniper rifle and the legendary 1911 pistol in the Reloaded update. A mid-season event will even allow you to unlock a strange energy weapon, the Siren, which fires large electrical projectiles capable of piercing multiple players. There will also be another event that will reward you with a new melee katana.
All of this comes alongside a paid battle pass full of stylish skins and a revamped Blackcell tier that now offers its own exclusive challenges. You can read all about, as well as the content coming to Warzone, Endgame and Zombies, on the official site. Obligations blog.
