- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 The first season arrives on December 4
- It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest updates in the series’ history.
- Adds a ton of new maps, weapons and more for each mode.
The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been revealed and is one of the biggest updates in the series’ history.
Set to launch next week on December 4, it brings a wealth of content to all of the first-person shooter’s core modes.
This includes four multiplayer maps on day one: the new Fate, Utopia and Odysseus, plus a remaster of the fan-favorite Standoff. Black operations 2. These will be followed by a festive version of Hijacked and subsequently a brand new Japanese-inspired map called Yakei and a remaster of Meltdown, again from Black ops 2.
If all that wasn’t enough, Fringe, a map from last year Black ops 6, It will also be presented.
Of all these maps, Fate and Yakei are by far the most interesting to me. The destination is set in a twisted version of the iconic Nicaraguan lair of Menéndez del Rear operations 2 Campaign complete with a floating island and giant machetes sticking out of the ground.
It’s incredibly nostalgic, but with a surreal twist that, in my opinion, makes it one of the most engaging maps in the series so far.
Yakei has equally strong art direction that makes me want to dive in. Set on the rooftops of a futuristic Japanese city, it’s bathed in neon lights and eye-catching billboards with plenty of ledges that look perfect for parkour.
To accompany this series of maps is a selection of new modes including the return of Prop Hunt, One In the Chamber, Sharpshooter, Gun Game, Takeover and Sticks & Stones.
During the festive period there will also be two limited time ‘Codmas’ modes: Snowfight and Holiday Havoc.
An avalanche of new weapons will also arrive throughout the season, including the Kogot-7 SMG, Maddox RFB assault rifle, Sokol 545 LMG, NX Ravager crossbow, ballistic knife, Sturmwolf 45 SMG, and Hawker HX sniper rifle.
There will also be new accessories to earn, one that sounds particularly terrifying and that will allow you to use the super-fast-firing Akita shotguns akimbo.
Endgame gets a mega content boost
The campaign’s cooperative Engame mode, which recently became available to all players regardless of campaign progress, is about to get even bigger thanks to four incredibly strange new world events.
In ‘Colossus of Avalon’, high-level players will have to take down one of the gigantic mechanical robots that we previously saw marching menacingly in the background of Black ops 2 Zombies maps.
There will be another new boss in the ‘Wraith Wing’ world event in the form of a giant squad-hunting VTOL. Instead of focusing on a single big boss, ‘Toxic Tyrant’ will challenge players to defeat waves of powerful enemies brought on by a deadly bioweapon on the loose in the world.
Publisher Activision is also teasing one more global event, but we’ll have to wait and see which one it is.
For more experienced players, a new exotic skill system will offer the opportunity to further upgrade your character with special abilities by completing these world events.
Zombies expands and much more.
The new Astra Malorum map headlines the host of additions coming to Zombies with its new enemy types, wonder weapons, traps, and main quests to dive into.
Survival mode fans also get a new environment in Exit 115, which is located in the Reba’s Diner area of the existing Ashes of the Damned map.
I’m barely scratching the surface here, as all of this comes with new challenges, camos, limited-time events, and much more.
Big changes are coming to free-to-play war zone component as well, that is, in the form of a new resurgence map and two black operations 7-themed points of interest that appear in Verdansk.
