South Korean singer and rapper Lisa has been receiving negative responses from fans for her solo performances of her music.
Within the girl group Blackpink, Lisa holds the position of lead dancer, lead rapper, and sub-vocalist. Before starting her solo career, this meant that her performances focused more on dancing than vocals.
Now that her solo career is taking off, listeners are criticizing the quality of her voice during her performances, with one user writing: “She was never a standout singer, it’s easier to hide that when there are 3 other people on stage… So “Generally, she just shouts out some parts to get the crowd going and that’s it, expecting more from her is a bit silly, because there’s no basis there for improvement.”
Another user added: “I don’t think she’s going backwards, it’s just that she’s never been a prominent singer and now that she’s working alone people have started to notice.”
Her VMA performance sparked more backlash when one user wrote on unknown“I didn’t know Lisa from Blackpink was going solo, but that performance was horrible. The songs were bad, all the wide shots can’t hide the fact that she can’t be bothered to move her mouth to lip sync to the middle of the song #VMAs.”
Some listeners claimed that Lisa has difficulty performing well as her music does not suit her talent and vocal range. Others claimed that he has yet to find the “killer song” that will elevate his solo career.
