Blake Lively has discovered the downsides of raising four creative kids, and it involves plastic wrapping, a toilet seat and a well-timed joke.
The actress shared the results of her children’s April Fool’s Day efforts on her Instagram Stories on April 1, posting a short clip of her toilet lid covered in pink markings and the seat wrapped in plastic wrap.
She repeatedly tapped the center to show how thoroughly she had been tricked and captioned the video with a wry admission: “I knew I should have never taught them how to read a calendar.”

The culprits were her and her husband Ryan Reynolds’ four children, James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3.
The couple, who married in 2012, tend to keep their children out of the public eye, but have never been shy about describing the joyful chaos of life with four young children.
Reynolds spoke about her parenting philosophy at the Wall Street Journal CMO Summit in New York last November, describing a deliberately gentle approach that somehow still results in joyful chaos.
“Soft parenting is new, right? I didn’t have that,” he said. “There’s not a lot of yelling or punishment or anything like that.”
However, he had no illusions about the outcome.
“My children feel safe. Are they still spawn of Satan? Yes. My name is Satan?” [at] this moment? Yes. But they are. “They are still children.”
Meanwhile, Lively has described her own experience of motherhood with characteristic warmth.
“My life has become more intimate,” he said. Fashion in August 2024.
“Sitting with them doing chicken dances while having a very serious conversation with you is probably the most accurate portrait of me possible.”
According to Tuesday’s joke, that portrait is still very accurate.
