A bomb explosion in Kohsar Cricket Ground in the Khar Tehsil area of the District of Bajaur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), left a dead man and a injured child on Saturday, police confirmed.
The deceased was identified as Fazlullah. Both he and the injured child were transferred to the Hospital of the District headquarters in Khar to receive medical treatment, the police added.
The explosion occurred during a local Cricket match, causing panic between players and spectators. According to officials, the impact of the explosion was so powerful that its sound echoed in distant areas, causing a generalized alarm.
“In a state of panic, many fled from the field when the explosion shook the ground,” said a police spokesman. “The explosion occurred while local players actively participated in the game.”
The security forces quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The site was examining more evidence while an investigation was launched to the nature and source of the explosive device.
Until now, no group has assumed the responsibility of the attack.
