Blaze destroys two houses in Murree

MURREE:

Furniture and valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in two houses on Mohra Sharif Road, Murree, on Wednesday.

According to the police, the fire was caused by a short circuit and quickly engulfed both houses. The wooden roofs were destroyed. Residents actively participated in the rescue efforts, helping to control the fire after hours of fighting and preventing further damage to nearby homes.

The affected area, located three kilometers from the main road, posed significant challenges for rescue operations. Emergency personnel reached the scene on foot and, with the help of locals, saved more than five rooms from the fire. In total, four houses were affected, 10 rooms and two hallways were burned, while five rooms were saved.

The owners of the damaged properties include Ijaz Ahmed, Shahzad Ahmed, Shahbaz and Muhammad Chanzeb. Families have suffered financial losses worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

This is the fifth house fire reported in the area in recent days.

Residents have asked Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to provide financial assistance and support for rehabilitation to the affected families.
