The Baluchistan-Mengal National Party (BNP-M) announced on Wednesday the end of its 20-day protest in Lak Pass, Mastung, which had been organized against the arrests of Baloch’s rights activists, including the leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (Byc), Dr. Mahrang Baloch.

The BNP-M head, Akhtar Mengal, who was going to supporters, said the protest was being called to avoid more interruptions to the public, particularly due to road closures that affect critical trade and transport links, Express News reported.

The party will now celebrate demonstrations in several districts throughout Baluchistan, said Mengal, adding that the Central BNP-M Committee will meet Quetta on April 18 to finish its strategy.

The sitting began after the arrest of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and 16 other people during a protest camp in Quetta.

Days before, the group had accused the Police of beating three of their supporters until death.

The Byc member, Sammi Deen Baloch, was also arrested during manifestations related to Karachi, but was then released.

The protest had severely interrupted the trade, with the Quetta-Karachi and Quetta-Taphan roads, leaving more than 1,200 load vehicles, including LPG oil tankers, stranded on the border between Pak-Iran.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Quetta (QCCI) estimated daily financial losses in millions.

Earlier this week, BNP-M convened a conference from all the parties in Quetta, where nine resolutions were approved.

The declaration required the application of constitutional rights linked to the Baluchistan adhesion instrument in 1948 and urged a national dialogue to address long -standing complaints.

Despite the end of the sitting, Mengal promised that the party would not abandon its demands for justice and responsibility.
