Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra breathed his last at the age of 89 in Mumbai.
The actor, affectionately known as He-Man, was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month due to respiratory problems.
However, the veteran actor could not survive and died in the hospital on Monday morning.
His death marks the end of true Indian cinema and fans and celebrities alike pay their last respects to the actor’s celebrated legacy.
Looking back on his inspiring journey, Dharmendra’s acting career, which spanned over six decades, was filled with unforgettable performances in films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Phool Aur Patthar among other cinematographic gems.
Meanwhile, the late actor’s next film. Ikkis It will be his last film in which he played a major role. It will be released in theaters on December 25.
Dharmendra’s wife Hema Malini and daughter Esha Doel arrived at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle.
Several celebrities like Amitabh Bachan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and others also attended the crematorium for the final rites.
Dharmendra is survived by six children. He shares four children (Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol and Ajeeta Deol) with his first wife, Prakash Kaur.
The late actor reportedly married for the second time with Sholay co-star Hema in 1980. They both welcomed two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.
