For the first time since 1988, New York Yankees have a new full -time game announcer on the radio.

Dave Sims replaced John Sterling, who retired at the beginning of the 2024 season, but returned briefly for the postseason, in WFAN. Sims previously was the television station for Seattle sailors.

Sterling, of course, never lost a game from 1989 to the summer of 2019, including the postseason. But Sims was not in the call to the Yankees series last weekend in Sacramento against athletics.

Sims had said on social networks that the series would be surprised to visit the family in Seattle, before the three Yankees games were there this week.

The absence of Sims bothered Boomer thoseon, who organizes a daily morning program on the Yankees radio network.

“John Sterling no game was lost, right? Do you just take a week off?” The Esiason said. “I’m sorry, I love Dave Sims … What are you doing? You just took the work of the Yankees. It is supposed to be the work of your life.”

“Don’t miss a Yankee … you just don’t do that.”

Esiason reiterated his fondness for Sims, “but I’m going to call him as I see it.”

“He has just started as the Yankees announcer, he has 40 games in his career as the Yankees announcer, and decided to take off,” Esiason continued.

Perhaps the problem reached a mourning place for Esiason, which has traveled to call the NFL games and managed to return to New York to organize its program, which co-elanfitrione with Gregg Giannotti.

“I would fly to the games Monday night and fly back in the middle of the night to be here in the studio with Craig [Carton]Especially when we were elapsed … I have also done the same with you. They are the Yankees for the good of God, “Esiason said, the MVP of the 1989 NFL.

Last year there was a rotation of several broadcasters for the Yankees, but they landed in Sims during the low season.
