In a January Instagram post, O’Connor revealed that he had learned from his cancer diagnosis. She said she suffered a weakening pain for weeks prior to diagnosis.

“For 17 weeks since the beginning of October, I have had a constant pain, going and coming between Durham and Newcastle Rvi a & e knowing that something was very bad,” O’Connor subtitled a photo of her in a hospital bed.

“I said from the beginning that I felt it was cancer. I knew the risks. I have colitis and PSC, two diseases that drastically increase the possibilities of obtaining it. I know how high my risk is and they did too. They always did.”

O’Connor added that doctors refused to take their concerns “seriously.

“But no doctor listened to me. Not a doctor took me seriously. Not a doctor did the scanning or blood tests I begged while crying in the floor in agony,” Instagram publication continued. “Instead, they ruled out. They put me to gas, they told me it was nothing, it made me feel that I was exaggerating. They refused to scan me. They refused to investigate. They refused to listen. He even told me that he was ‘everything in my head.’ And now the cancer now.”

In February, O’Connor spoke about another devastating personal circumstance.

“The last months have been a roller coaster,” O’Connor wrote. “I have been pregnant with a beautiful baby, I suffered a spontaneous abortion and then I was diagnosed with ‘incurable’ cancer. But I still feel at the top of the world!”

More recently, O’Connor celebrated a milestone. She announced that she had “married that love for” her life on May 9.

O’Connor was able to maintain his undefeated boxing history despite his battle against ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. He was professional in 2021. He obtained medals in the 2017 and 2018 World Youth Championship during his amateur career.

O’Connor was born in Durham, England.
