It turns out that Brian Austin Green isn’t actually… Austin.
Yeah. Beverly Hills, 90210 The star just revealed a surprisingly chaotic (and hilarious) origin story behind her name, and it involves delivery room negotiations, SAG rules, and a set of initials that nearly ended her career.
Talking about the The capsule meets the world On the podcast, Green revealed that his name was basically improvised mid-birth.
“My mom had a full name planned for me… and my dad, who smoked a lot of marijuana at that point in life, while my mom was in labor, came forward and said, ‘Can we call him Brian?’”
It’s safe to say his mother was in no mood to argue.
“Whatever the fuck” his father wanted, he said. “Get it out of me.”
And just like that… Brian Green was born. No middle name. No backup plan.
That became a problem later, when he tried to join the Screen Actors Guild.
“I don’t think you can be in the union with the same name as someone else,” he explained, after discovering, of course, that there was already a Brian Green.
Cue the naming crisis.
“We almost called myself Brian Peter Green… but then my initials would have been P… Brian P. Green… and they said, that’s probably not a good start.”
Yes. Hard pass.
In the end, the solution came from the least glamorous place: the possible one: a map.
“Brian Green is not a very easy name to find a middle name for,” he admitted, but “Austin” stuck.
As for the other Brian Green? Let’s just say the younger one wasn’t thrilled.
“I wanted [for] “His death when I was younger… I didn’t realize that was a terrible thing to wish on someone.”
From no middle names to Austin, honestly, that’s showbiz.
