- Bridgestone suffered a cyber attack that interrupted some manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada
- States that no data were stolen
- No group has still claimed responsibility
The Bridgestone tire manufacturing giant has suffered a cyber attack that impacted manufacturing in several places.
American media have claimed cybersecurity incidents that affect two production facilities in South Carolina, while Canadian Local Press reported the same for a Quebec installation.
Currently, the media are saying that the attack was identified and stopped early, before the attackers managed to steal any significant data or cause more damage.
Lapsus $ scattered hunters?
Responding to BleepingcomputerThe media research, Bridgestone Americas (the company’s American arm), said he was investigating a “limited” incident that affected “some of our manufacturing facilities.”
“Our team responded quickly to contain the problem according to our established protocols.”
“While our forensic analysis is ongoing, we continue to surely contain this early limited cyber incident,” the company added. “We do not believe that the client’s data or interfaces have been committed.”
Until now, no threat actor attributed responsibility for the attack. However, a group has been particularly active in recent weeks, since Lapsus $ scattered hunters claimed the recent attack against Jaguar Land Rover.
This group formed when three groups merged: Spider Spider, Lapsus $ and Shinyhunters, and has said that he was behind the recent attacks against Jaguar Land Rover, M&S, Salesforce and many others.
He also states that in previous incidents he could steal confidential data and is currently trying to extort his victims for money, although these statements have not yet been confirmed.
Bridgestone is a manufacturer of Japanese multinational tires and the largest in the world by production volume.
