A British man has been accused by the United States police after allegedly hacking dozens of organizations worldwide, in a campaign that caused more than $ 25 million in damages.
The series hacker, supposedly part of the ‘Intelbroker’ piracy group, was appointed Kai West and faces sentences of up to 20 years in prison for electronic fraud and conspiracy to commit computer intrusions.
Intelbroker is a notorious name in cyber crimes circles, with high profile attacks against companies such as AMD, Apple and Cisco, who investigated infractions after the criminal put on sale the data in the dark network. The Intelbroker scheme supposedly was executed since December 2022 and February 2025, when West was arrested.
Serial piracy
West and their co-conspirators have “sought to collect” around $ 2 million selling stolen data, confirms the Department of Justice. West was arrested in France in early 2025, and the United States is looking for extradition to face charges.
“Intelbroker alias has caused millions of damage to victims around the world,” said US prosecutor Jay Clayton.
“This action reflects FBI’s commitment to pursue cybercriminals worldwide. New Yorkers are too often victims of intentional cybernetic schemes and our office is committed to bringing these remote actors before justice.”
The Intebroker hacking group has a proven history of hacking some serious organizations, such as Europol, T-Mobile, Home Depot and many, many more. The authorities confirmed that they tracked West to Intelbroker through a stolen data purchase.
The payment, which was made through a cryptocurrency coinbase, was linked to an account recorded under the real name of West. His Gmail account then revealed financial information and personal records that linked him to his online personality, and his IP address was used to log in to personal accounts and Intelbroker.
