Auburn Tigers’ male basketball coach Bruce Pearl was appointed president of the Board of Directors of the United States Israel Education Association (USIEA) on Thursday.
Pearl is one of the few Jewish coaches in university basketball. He has been one of Israel’s most open supporters, who only grew following the terrorist attack of October 7, Hamas. He was one of the three Jewish coaches who arrived at the Final Four of the NCAA last weekend.

“I feel deeply honored to be appointed president of the United States Israel Education Association, and I hope you can even start filling the shoes of outgoing President Dr. Phil Roe, former member of the Congress and president of the Chamber Veterans Affairs Committee,” Pearl said in a press release.
“My experience in Israel was a transformative. I felt it was my responsibility to get more involved in the Mission of Usiea and educate the main government leaders in the United States about the importance of supporting Israel. I also shared this important trip with my team. In August 2022, the University of Auburn became the first basketball team of division I to perform a professional team of Israeli, which marked a moment. historical as the University and the University of the United States.

Usiea has helped build the relationship between us and Israeli leaders and strengthen their communication on key issues.
Pearl’s goal is to amplify the mission.
“I have dedicated much of my life to teach young people about the importance of leadership, values and understand different perspectives,” Pearl added. “My work with Usiea aligns with those principles, and I am excited to continue building a bridge of understanding between these two great nations.”

Pearl led Auburn to a 32-6 record. The final appearance Four de los Tigres was the first of the team since 2019. Pearl has taken Auburn to his only two final finals.
