Bryson Dechambeau will represent the United States at this year’s Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black, and had a lot of message for the European team when asked after his final round in the championship open on Sunday.
Keegan Bradley, Captain of the US team, sent a text message to Bob Harig from Sports Illustrated confirming that Dechambeau will play for the stars and stripes, even if it is outside the first six in the Ryder Cup classification when the players win their places in their respective teams.
If that is the case, Dechambeau will be a selection of Bradley captain.

An emotional Dechambeau spoke with journalists after a roaring return in his final round on Sunday, when he fired a 64 to end up taught at Royal Portrush, and said he spoke “briefly” with Bradley during the week.
Then, he saw something “in our lockers that was quite inspiring.” Dechambeau called the message as “personal”, and kept it for himself. However, he made a strong statement before the Ryder Cup, an event that Europe won in 2023 in Italy.

“It meant a lot,” Dechambeau said about Bradley’s confidence in him in the US team. “It’s not this year’s joke. We are tired of that. We are tired of losing.”
Dechambeau may well need the selection of a Bradley captain due to play for Liv Golf. It is no longer eligible for points in the Ryder Cup classification of the United States, and feels fifth on the list.
Dechambeau has a small advantage over Justin Thomas at this time, although other PGA Tour stars are just out of the cut. The six best golfers on the list after the BMW championship in August will be automatic players of the US team. For the Ryder Cup, and Dechambeau has no more opportunities to win those points.
However, Bradley’s captaincy gives him six selections to complete the group of 12 men. Dechambeau, for him, is obvious.

“Bryson is going to be a very important piece for us to win the Ryder Cup,” he sent a text message to Bradley Sports Illustry. “It brings a lot. It brings energy, passion, but most importantly, it is one of the best players on the planet.”
Dechambeau did not play for the US team. In 2023, when they were convincing in Rome. However, he was part of two Ryder Cup teams in 2019 and 2021, the last of which was a victory in Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
Until Sunday, Scottie Scheffler is the only one given for the US team on the Ryder Cup classification board with 27,770.33 points. Xander Schauffele (12,706.10), JJ Spaun (12,271,85), the winner of the US Open this year, Russell Henley (11,166.85), Dechambeau (10,318.00) and Thomas (10,078.31) round the list. The next golfer is Collin Morikawa in the seventh place with 9,743,61 points.

The Ryder Cup will take place in Long Island from September 26 to 28 in the famous Black Bethpage field.
