BTC returns to $90,000 area after brief drop on US military action

The United States carried out a “large-scale” attack against Venezuela and its president Nicolás Maduro, Donald Trump announced early Saturday. Maduro and his wife, Trump continued, were captured and taken out of the country by plane.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi later announced that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, had been charged in the Southern District of New York with several counts of drug and weapons trafficking.

Cryptocurrency prices took a modest hit around 2 a.m. ET on reports of military operations in Venezuela, with bitcoin falling approximately 0.5% to $89,300. At press time, shortly before 9am ET, BTC had returned to just under $90,000.

President Trump has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. ET.
