Bushra Bibi granted bail in 32 cases, with no arrest until January 13

An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in 32 cases.

The former first lady, who faces charges related to the protests held between November 24 and 27, appeared in court on Saturday, where she was granted protection.

The court also ordered that she not be arrested until January 13, 2025, Express News reported.

Bushra Bibi’s legal advisor Muhammad Faisal Malik filed bail petitions for her in all 32 cases, leading to the court’s decision. The court also issued notices to investigators of the cases, directing them to provide relevant records.

Bushra Bibi’s vehicle was granted special permission to enter the court premises, where prominent PTI leaders, including Simabiah Tahir, were present to provide support. Defense lawyer Faisal Chaudhry also attended the hearing.

After the hearing, Judge Amjad Ali Shah approved Bushra Bibi’s bail, allowing her to leave the court.

The judge is scheduled to visit Adiala jail later in the day for a hearing related to the headquarters attack case.

Yesterday, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) extended the protective bail of Bushra Imran Khan, former first lady and wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding president Imran Khan, till January 16.

He has also exempted her from appearing in court.

The case was heard by a two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court, comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmad.

Petitioner’s counsel Alam Khan Adeenzai, Additional Solicitor General Sanaullah, NAB Special Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Ali and Additional Advocate General Inamullah appeared.

The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that Bushra Imran Khan could not appear before the court as he had a hearing in Islamabad in the Toshakhana case. The lawyer added that they had submitted an application for exemption.

The court accepted Bushra Imran Khan’s exemption application and extended his protective bail till January 16.

The AAG informed the court that two cases were being considered today. In the first case, they had submitted the report and the court was willing to discuss its admissibility.

The court had previously stated that the discussion should first focus on whether the case was admissible.

NAB Special Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Ali said the bureau had submitted a report on three cases against the petitioner. The court accepted Bushra Imran Khan’s plea for exemption from appearance in court, extended his protective bail till January 16 and adjourned the hearing.
