Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will renew their rivalry on Saturday in the first game of the WNBA season between Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky.
Clark opened ESPN about facing his rival to start his second season.
“The rivalries are real, and that is what makes sports so incredible,” Clark said. “There are certain teams that these games mean a little more. [We] Come here and play in the same way every night, but [a rivalry] It involves fans and loves. “

The two players faced each other on the court and for fans and the media since their controversial battle in the NCAA championship game of 2023. Reese made fun of Clark by pointing out his ring finger during the game, causing outrage and causing an ongoing dispute between fans.
Iowa Hawkeyes of Clark took revenge on Lsu Tigers of Reese a year later in the Eight elite, but the tension reached a completely new level when the players reached the professionals for their seasons of WNBA as rookie.

Clark took a series of questionable fouls of Reese’s Sky during the 2024 season, including one of Reese on June 16.
Clark also received an infamous illegal hip check from Chicago striker Sky Chennedy Carter on June 1. Then, at the end of August, the Diamond Deshields of Chicago committed a hard foul on Clark, which flew down the floor. The fault was updated later to a flagrant violation, and Deshields then published catches of hate messages that he had received from the fault.

But Clark’s team prevailed, taking three of the four meetings between the two teams last year, which were among the most seen WNBA competitions throughout the season.
