“Let me say that Caitlin Clark has had an incredible impact on WNBA,” Leslie told The Outlet. “Her ability to go out and play, especially after her university season. And then enter the WNBA and really have the effect she was really exceptional. He was very proud of Caitlin.”
Leslie said that, on paper, the list of fever “looks incredible.” Indiana added Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham and Dewanna Bonner to the list and reacted to Stephanie White as her new chief coach.
The member of the Basketball Hall of Fame said with the accumulation of the list and the increased expectations, the additional pressure also comes.
“So, when you talk about Caitlin in his second year, he is more experienced, he has had time to rest. He has had time to regroup and see exactly where he wants to go,” Leslie said. “Obviously, (the fever) has a lot of new players, a new coach. And that also generates a lot of pressure. It is very difficult to win. It is not easy to win the first year you get a new coach, new teammates, and the new teammates, and now they try to build this chemist. I do not want to press too much. “And possibly they can. I am not saying that they cannot. The stars game is there in Indiana. Everything is presented. Caitlin has really had time to process how the wnba looks, how it feels. And it will be exciting, so I am sure that fans will tune in. Everything is exhausted. And some teams, when Caitlin arrives in the city, they have already had to go into larger sands.
Clark did not convert the National Women’s Basketball team in the United States for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. However, it seemed to be a disguised blessing, since it seemed to be more synchronized with their fever teammates after the rupture of the Olympic Games than at the beginning of the regular season.
Indiana arrived at the playoffs in 2024 for the first time since 2016, when White was still the chief coach. The fever ended 20-20 in 2024 and has brought key players like Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, Natasha Howard and Lexie Hull.
