- The ultra width mystery could have AF/1.4 opening
- It could be the largest main canon lens for Mirrorless still
- There are no details of an expected launch date still
Canon has the tip to fill a void for a long time in its lens line, with an ultra ultra completely new angle that could be perfect for astrophotography.
The leaks on the lens are apparently few, but that has not prevented Canon’s rumors from speculating what the mysterious lens of a complete picture could be for the canon mirror camera, and it could be a world first.
Judging by the response to publication, such a lens could be a great success with features of the canon and astrophotography. This is what has been rumored so far.
A new complete world
Canon has launched many excellent lenses for its mirror without mirror, however, ultra wide angle fans have options.
There is the 10-20 mm RF five-star Zoom Zoom is STM and a Hybrid RF 20 mm F1.4 VCM, but it is not a broader rapid cousin like 14 mm F/1.4 sigma (only for Sony E and L-Mount). That could be about to change.
It could be said that the most significant detail about this lens is absent in the publication of Canon’s rumors: the focal distance. It is speculated that there could be a 14 mm lens, or even be as wide as 12 mm.
The filter seems safer that the maximum opening will be F/1.4. If it is going to be a real lens of the world, then it could not be a 14 mm f/1.4, given the sigma lens. However, it could still be, with several qualifiers.
Whatever the case, if this lens materializes, it sounds like something totally new for the fee, combining an ultra -wide perspective with a brilliant maximum opening that is ideal for work with little light, such as astrophotography.
Naturally, a professional lens of the L series like 14 mm f/1.4 will be somewhat thick. However, I would expect it to be smaller than a DSLR equivalent; Canon has previously reduced the size and weight of certain DSLR lenses by making them again for mirror without mirror, such as the 10-20 mm F4L is STM, which was half the weight of Eph 11-24 mm f/4l USM.
And although Canon has recently focused its efforts on hybrid VCM lenses designed for photo and videos work, the feeling is that this rumored ultra fast cousin will be a STM lens, better equipped for photography.
Such lens is one of the most requested of Canon photographers, who hopefully will not have much to wait.
