- Canon Toasts launch event for September 9, 2025 at 2pm BST
- The partially obscured image strongly suggests the new film camera
- It was rumored that Canon Eos C50, a direct rival of Sony FX3
Canon Europe has published a teaser on its YouTube, hinting at an important launch of the new camera next week. Under the title “Something new is coming!”, The video will premiere at 2pm BST on September 9.
For now, everything that can be seen on the preview screen is a partially illuminated chamber lens and lens, but Canon has left some large clues about what we can expect, namely, the great red shutter button and a illuminated red count lamp. Both are characteristics associated with the brand’s film cameras and this, along with the shape of the camera body (square, without a viewer bulge) suggests strongly that we are watching our first look at a new EOS movie camera next week.

The online rumor has already been excessively on this new launch, claiming that the new camera will be the C50 canon, a compact replacement for the current Canon Eos R5 C and a direct rival of the Sony Fx3 four years. The suggestion of compact proportions, much smaller than the EOS C70, certainly with the teaser image.
Care, Sony Fx3 …
According to Sonyalpharumors, Canon EOS C50 will come with a complete 32MP box sensor and can shoot an open door, using the entire sensor surface, both wide and height, to record. This is something that we have previously seen in some of Panasonic’s Lumix cameras, Blackmagic movie camera models and more, but not in Sony or Canon cameras.
According to the reports, the C50 will weigh less than 700 g (lens not included), which makes it extremely compact and light for a film camera.
If the Canon EOS C50 arrives with the characteristics and design mentioned above, it could be a much more tempting perspective than the aged Sony FX3. However, it is rumored that Sony is working on a highly anticipated FX3 II, so we can have a new battle of compact movie cameras to wait.
