- Canon Powershot V1 announced silently on the Canon Japan website
- It has a new 22.3mp sensor that is indeed micro four thirds and a lens F2.8-4.5 16-50 mm
- Its converted price of Japanese Yen is approximately $ 990 / £ 785 / au $ 1,550
We have been following rumors of a new and exciting Canon compact camera for some time, and that camera, the Powershot V1, has just been presented on the Canon Japan website.
Canon’s last Powershot is mainly a compact vlogging camera, and in paper it looks like a rival of Sony Zv-1 II. It has a f2.8-4.5 lens of 16-50 mm and a new 22.3mp stabilized sensor that is essentially the same size as Micro Four Thirds, except for its most narrow appearance 3: 2 appearance ratio.
It offers 4K / 30P video and Canon C-Log color profile, or 4K / 60p with a heavy harvest of 1.4x, but the latter should not be a big problem taking into account the ultra wide perspective of the optical optical lens 3.1x .
There is also an incorporated 3 stop filter, image stabilization in the 5EV body, microphone ports and headphones, in addition to registration times with a heat limit that begins in 25 minutes, but which can be extended unlimited with the Incorporated Fan cooling in action.
Photographers will not find characteristics such as a visitor or a built -in flash, but that does not mean that they should ignore the Powershot V1, because it has some incredibly powerful photos characteristics. These include gusty shots at rates up to 15 fps with the mechanical shutter (that is incredibly fast, just a handful of cameras can go so fast using a mechanical shutter), or up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter.
In general, the Powershot V1 has a solid set of squeezed characteristics in a compact body with comfortable hands, and this is where I think it will be a success: it is likely to be the list price. At the time of writing, we only have the price of Japanese of 148,500, which becomes around $ 990 / £ 785 / au $ 1,550, that is quite competitive taking into account the characteristics on board.
Could the Powershot v1 fee be the only compact camera to govern them all?
From the Sony Zv-1 II compact to the DJI Osmo cameras without mirror stabilized to the cardan and the Fujifilm XM-5 / Nikon Z30 cameras without a mirror, there is no shortage of vlogging cameras of less than $ 1,000. And it is in this market that the canon Powershot V1 intervenes.
We have not yet tried the Powershot V1 stacked by functions, it is ready for an April / May 2025 launch, but on paper it looks very impressive and it is likely that it will enter the market at an attractive price that I hope to make it very popular.
Its stabilized sensor is larger than the type of 1 inch used by the rivals of Sony and DJI, while users still enjoy the convenience of a built -in lens that you do not get with cameras without a mirror like the Nikon Z30.
And its image manufacturing capabilities are compatible with what seems like a full user experience for the video; Image stabilization in the body with a rating of up to 5EV, a built -in ND filter, cooling fan, microphone ports and headphones and a hottyhoe for accessories such as external flash weapons.
With 15 OZ / 426 g with inserted card and battery, the Powershot V1 is a bit heavier than I expected, but it is the complete idea of the package for first video users who also want a highly competent photography tool.
We will make sure to execute our in -depth expert review as soon as the camera is available to develop our verdict, but even at this early stage, the Powershot V1 seems to be ready to disturb our best guide of Vlogging cameras.
