- Canon updates one of its cheap Powershots to aim and shoot from 2016
- The key features include a 12x optical zoom and a compact design
- The 2025 version is, in fact, a more expensive reduction
Canon has revived one of its points of aiming and firing cheap Powershot 2016 with an updated model, the new Powershot Elph 360 Hs A, which is known as Ixus 285 HS outside the United States.
The original of almost 10 years is one of the few compact trend cameras that are practically impossible to find after turning viral (Kendall Jenner shoots with one, you don’t know).
Therefore, the new ‘A’ version of the camera is good news for many fans of empty hands: there should be a lot of stock of the aim of aiming and firing 2025 with 12x optical zoom.
Canon will surely hope you have acted quickly enough to mount that tiktok wave, with a new availability of Elph 360 HS A / IXUS 285 HS to SET for October.
However, he trusts me, any success that the 2025 version has is not due to his skills. I cannot call this an update: it is practically a coal copy of the original model, which was not even one of the best compact in the mid -2010.
Worse, there are a couple of sales, it is also limited to black or silver colors (the original also came in purple). There is a higher price label to start, from $ 359 to $ 379 (United Kingdom Price TB and Australia).
Power Shoot Again
Like the Powershot Elph 360 HS/IXUS 285 HS, the new version ‘A’ includes a small 1/2.3-inch sensor with fixed 20MP images and 1080p video, plus a 12X optical zoom with a range of 25-300 mm f/3.6-7.
All key features are essentially the same, which means that, in terms of photo quality, the only real drawing to aim and shoot on your smartphone is your optical zoom. One would think, at least, the new model would come with USB-C load, but no, we are still in micro USB. Yes, it is 2025.
Version A also changes from SD card media to micro SD: it is a reduction in my book, even if users are unlikely to detect any impact on performance. An update of today’s Wi-Fi standards also sees users this time in Wi-Fi image transfers / direct printing to a PC. A second insignificant reduction, but a reduction anyway.
Even so, when reliving a popular point and shoot in a trend market, Canon is acting where most other brands are watching from the side. The truth is that Canon really did not need to update the new model: I could simply charge making your Powershot to aim and shoot is available again.
