- from capcom Resident Evil Requiem I just received a new short film starring Maika Monroe.
- It shows the story of a mother and child from the Raccoon City outbreak.
- The end of the trailer may tease the return of an important character.
Resident Evil Requiem With its release scheduled for February 27, it’s less than a month away, and Capcom has ramped up its marketing efforts, this time with an unexpected trailer.
Capcom released a new live-action short film called ‘Evil Has Always Had A Name’ starring Go on and long legs Actress Maika Monroe. Its story follows a mother and her son before, during and after the Raccoon City outbreak.
There are several Easter eggs in the trailer, namely the silhouette of Resident Evil 3Nemesis hidden in the smoke and the classic ‘STARS’ voice line in the background. We also have the Gun Shop Kendo store shown briefly during the night of the outbreak, and a licker, which apparently leads to the heartbreaking death of the protagonist’s daughter.
Most importantly, we see the same shot of Raccoon City’s crater that has been present in almost every RequiemTrailers Assuming it’s set in the present day (or close enough), Monroe’s now-zombified character delivers a “tell them it was still me, all the way” monologue before being killed at her daughter’s burial site.
Zombies can be intelligent in Requiem
Perhaps it’s best to use the term “zombie” loosely. While the infected that we have seen in Resident Evil Requeim Clearly not human, director Koshi Nakanishi noted that each maintains elements of their human personality, even engaging in the same daily tasks they would do in life, with some speech.
However, this short film may have only hinted at the undead in Requiem being more sensitive than we thought, possibly being fully aware of what is happening, maintaining memories and feelings, but without the ability to control their infection.
It won’t be the first time the franchise has tried something like this: Resident Evil 4 It featured enemies controlled by the Las Plagas parasite, but still retained human traits (even if they were savage and violent).
Requiem seems to be taking a similar route, but one that will strike a chord with players, if this short film is anything to go by.
Was it Ada Wong at the end?
There are still many things we don’t know Resident Evil Requiemand that is fortunate for many who want to live the experience blindly. One thing we do know is that legacy characters will return, whether from Resident Evil Outbreak or the main entries of the franchise.
Ada Wong has been present at every resident Evil game featuring Leon S. Kennedy so far, and if this is indeed Leon’s last game for a long time, his appearance is becoming more and more likely.
This is further supported by the ending of this short film, where the military is moving towards Raccoon City, with a voice that sounds very familiar that says ‘Copy that’. Raccoon City is ours.’
We know that Ada’s motivations and loyalties in the resident Evil The games are blurry and often work for shady corporations or figures like Albert Wesker. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that it may be Ada Wong speaking, which will make us wonder whose side she’s really on when it launches on February 27.
Either way, Resident Evil Requiem It is shaping up to be the most ambitious title in the franchise, with an emotional story and a potential end to a saga that has developed since 1998.
