- Capcom has revealed new Resident Evil Requiem gameplay on Japanese television
- The new gameplay segment features gun battles with the main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft.
- Marketing for the game may be ramping up with The Game Awards scheduled for December 11
months later Resident Evil RequiemFollowing the reveal during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest 2025, Capcom has remained very secretive about the next installment in its action-horror franchise, often leaving fans frustrated by the marketing. However, that apparently ends from now on.
during a resident Evil special program broadcast on Japanese television (video available below), Resident Evil RequiemCombat was revealed, with the game’s main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, fending off the zombies, as discovered by reputable leaker AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem in X.
For the first time, Grace Ashcroft can be seen wielding and firing a gun at a zombie before being bitten and chased by another aggressive flesh-eater, in a sequence highly reminiscent of those in Resident Evil 2. It highlights Capcom’s obvious attempts to return to the classic horror experience that long-time fans of the franchise are familiar with, as we revisit Raccoon City in the game.
While it is likely to be satisfactory to many resident Evil Fans like me are finally seeing some new footage after months of seeing the gameplay demo featuring the game’s stalker enemy, the timing and location of this reveal highlighting just how strange and unusual Capcom’s marketing cycle has been for what is arguably its most anticipated titles in years.

Fortunately, however, the marketing secrecy may be coming to an end, with The Game Awards 2025 scheduled for December 11 (also hosted by Geoff Keighley), and this revelation suggests that a bigger reveal is on the horizon.
Capcom has already confirmed that a Resident Evil presentation is scheduled for early 2026, and The Game Awards 2025 is the latest big stage where a major reveal would be ideal. Therefore, the chances of the marketing working in full force are very likely, unless of course we end up seeing the exact same content. again.
From Resident Evil Requiem Now open for pre-orders, many would have hoped to at least see more of what the game has to offer in terms of gameplay and mechanics, but that hasn’t been the case.
I really appreciate Capcom holding its cards close to its chest by not spoiling or giving away too much of the experience before its release on February 27, 2026, but that doesn’t mean showing the same content for most of the game’s marketing cycle is okay either.
Although it happened in a very strange way with a seemingly exclusive reveal on Japanese television (mind you, this is a globally beloved franchise), it’s a step in the right direction, and I’m sure a major character reveal is in the works for The Game Awards, followed by an extensive gameplay showcase in January.
