Capital wins the electronic parking dispute

Islamabad:

A lower court in Islamabad confirmed on Sunday the decision of the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) and the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) to cancel the electronic parking contract granted to AJCL Company, qualifying the completely legal termination and in accordance with administrative procedures.

The court dismissed AJCL appeal, reinforcing government commitment to transparency, legal supremacy and public interest. The main lawyer Nazir Jawad, who represents CDA and DMA, presented what the court described as “solid legal evidence” to defend the cancellation of the contract.

The contract with AJCL was officially revoked in June 2025 after it was discovered that the company is in serious violation of multiple clauses, including financial irregularities and the lack of implementation of a system without cash for parking.

The CDA spokesman told the media that the DMA also presented multiple information reports (FIR) and citizens concerned at local police stations against the company. Subsequently, AJCL challenged the termination of the contract, requesting that the parking sites not be recovered and that the proposed re -authration of intelligent parking sites are stopped.

However, the court rejected all these claims, declaring them without foundation and defending the actions of the DMA as legally solid and own procedures.

Both legal experts and civic interested parties have praised the decision, qualifying it as an important step to enforce transparency, defend the rule of law and improve urban services in Islamabad.

“This trial allows us to take stronger and more effective steps to improve public services,” said a senior CDA official. “This verdict is a testimony of our commitment to good governance, transparency and decisions based on merit,” said the president of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa in a statement on Sunday.

The verdict has been acclaimed by CDA officials as a preceding establishment movement under the leadership of the Talat Mahmood Member Administration and the attached application of DG and director DMA Dr Anam Fatima.

The CDA reiterated its commitment to modernize urban infrastructure, promising that periods would not be tolerated in governance or the provision of public services.
