The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) have successfully extinguished the fire that exploded near the Faisal Mosque in the Margalla hills on Monday afternoon.

The president of the CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, supervised fire fighting efforts, as confirmed by his spokesman. The officers of the administration of Islamabad conducted a coordinated response, the environmental wing of CDA and several other departments.

More than 64 firefighters participated in the operation, with special firefighters brigade vehicles to administer the fire. Thanks to the rapid action of the CDA, the fire was contained before it could extend more.

After the directives of President Randhawa, additional equipment has been established to improve surveillance and patrol in the Colinas de Margalla, ensuring a more efficient monitoring system.

In addition, the number of personnel dedicated to fire fighting efforts in the area has increased to avoid future fire shoots.

On the other hand, a fire that began during boring water near Korangi’s crossing on Saturday continued to burning even the second day.

The fire exploded when the workers were drilling a tube well at a depth of more than 1,100 feet. KMC’s fire director, Humayun Khan, confirmed that the intensity of the fire remains high, but experts believe that it will eventually extinguish as the shallow gas burns.

The incident occurred in an uninhabited plot, without injuries or damage to the reported property. The relevant agencies are investigating the type of underground gas deposit.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, Mayor Murtaza Wahab and other officials provided updates during a press conference, stating that fire extinction teams and the necessary personnel are still present at the site.

The fire was caused by a mixture of underground gas and water, and experts observed similar incidents in the past.

The PRL managing director, Zahid Mir, added that the site is close to an oil refinery, and such fires usually decrease in one or three weeks once the gas runs out. The authorities ensure that the area is safe and continues to monitor the situation.
