CDA begins delivery of lots in the I-15 sector after 20 years

Move, part of a long-delayed housing project, is the result of two decades of development work

The Capital Development Authority has started handing over possession of over 8,600 developed plots out of a total of 10,200 in Sector I-15 of Islamabad, valued at over Rs 70 billion.

In a ceremony held at the Jinnah Convention Center on Thursday, more than 200 allottees were awarded possession orders. The Sector I-15 housing project was initially launched for low-income citizens.

The CDA chairman said that after more than two decades of delay, the development work has been completed and the possession process has formally begun as per the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, prioritizing the housing needs of the capital.

He appreciated NAB’s cooperation in removing hurdles in the project and acknowledged its role in ensuring the legal rights of the allottees. The remaining beneficiaries will soon receive certificates at their doorstep.

To curb land-related irregularities, CDA is working with SUPARCO to implement advanced technology. NAB Director General Waqar Ahmed Chauhan congratulated the allottees and said verification of documents was completed before issuance of possession letters.

He announced that NAB and CDA will jointly introduce a new system for transparency in the housing sector, which will include barcoded allotment letters and mandatory escrow accounts for housing societies to ensure that deposited funds are spent only on development activities.

The CDA chairman said public confidence in the authority’s policies reflects its commitment, adding that development work in other delayed sectors, including C-14, has been expedited and possession would soon be handed over to the allottees.
