If it seems that boston celts Head coach Joe Mazzulla was furious with the referees at the end of Thursday night’s loss to the Chicago Bulls, which would be incorrect to assume. At least that’s what Mazzulla would like people to think.
Following the 117-108 loss, Mazzulla came onto the court looking to speak with official Justin Van Duyne apparently in reference to the consecutive technicals the official gave him and the Celtics forward. Jaylen Brown in the fourth quarter.
Several people had to restrain Mazzulla. He was eventually taken off the field without incident.

During his postgame press conference, Mazzulla said he received a technical foul for walking on the court, something he admitted he shouldn’t have done. However, when asked what “message” he was trying to convey at the end of the match, Mazzulla had an interesting explanation.
“I haven’t seen them in a long time, so just a ‘Merry christmas, Happy holidays,'” he said with a serious expression.
“I wasn’t sure I’d see them before the holidays, and you can’t pass up a moment when you wish someone the best for them and their family.”

Brown, however, didn’t wish anyone a happy holiday in his interactions with game officials.
“I told (Van Duyne), ‘You called a technician for no reason.’ He said, ‘If you tell me again, I’ll call another technician,'” Brown said, explaining that he approached Van Duyne to clarify why. Mazzulla’s technician served.
“You can’t threaten guys with a technical foul, that’s not part of the game either. If you want to fine guys for making gestures and stuff, that’s fine. It’s some bullshit—.”
Mazzulla will have a chance to spread more Christmas cheer when the two teams meet again on Saturday.
