Less people are watching live television in an era of the best transmission services. With so much at our hand, it is not surprising that people choose to see “on request”, so Channel 5 has decided to rationalize its content in one.
Combining channel 5 and transmission service Mi 5 to be simply known as “5”. They have done this to create a clear brand, although this has confused some spectators, according to the independent reports.
Explaining the decision, Sarah Rose, 5 -year president, said: “This is the beginning of a new and exciting era for 5 as we gathered our linear and transmission services under a clear brand.”
He added: “Everything that our audience and our advertisers already love about channel 5 will be fundamental for this relaunch, but there will be much more, with a wide variety of content of the Paramount family and beyond, new live channels and a new user experience for our transmission product.”
This movement is very similar to that of Rival Channel 4, which eliminated its All4 transmission service to be collectively known as “Channel 4” in linear and transmission channels. There is also a transmission service freely called, which presents the largest number of television channels in the United Kingdom, all under the same roof, so it seems that the movement towards transmission is increasing in popularity.
What is freely?
It was released freely in 2024, and the Techradar Transmission Editor, Amelia Schwanke, took a freely look, where he gave an excellent summary of the service.
Essentially, it offers a way of transmitting live television and requested from the United Kingdom stations such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 (now “5”) without requiring a dish or antenna, which makes it an excellent way for people to see a content host without having to transmit TV of the old school.
It seems that 5 will bring more content freely as a result of its recent brand change too.
