The member of the Basketball Hall of Basketball Charles Barkley spoke frankly on Friday about how today’s NBA players could become great, and everything revolved around who is in the bank.
Barkley regretted how coaches treat NBA players today, suggesting that some are “scared to train” due to the amount of money the players earn.
“I think the most important thing you need to be a great player is to have a good coaching staff. That is probably the most important thing: the coaching staff,” Barkley explained in “The Dan Patrick Show.” “I think that more players are ruined by bad technical teams … because coaches are cowardly. They are afraid to train.

“As, I wanted a Pat Riley. He had a great coach, Billy Cunningham, a Gregg Popovich, but most of today’s coaches are cowards because the players earn a lot of money. They do not have them under control. The players direct the team. And the coach must realize that the players are going to say goodbye, but the coaches have taken it to the trainers that the players make the players gain a lot of money. Barkley spoke with Patrick in the celebrity golf tournament of the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. The annual event took place during the weekend, and former NHL star Joe Pavelski took home the trophy.
